The support of Claude Giroux and his fans will help the small community of Hearst, in Northern Ontario, benefit from a state-of-the-art physiotherapy and rehabilitation centre. The closest physiotherapy and rehabilitation centre is located more than 300 kilometers from Hearst.
Given the realities of Northern Ontario and road conditions during winter, it is essential that these types of services be made available to patients in their own community. The Notre-Dame Hospital Foundation is hopeful that through its partnership with Claude Giroux, the new Centre Claude-Giroux Centre will become a reality in the near future.
Approximately $700,000 must be raised to build the Centre Claude-Giroux Centre. Many people are unaware that the provincial government does not offer any financial assistance for capital equipment purchases and the money must be raised within the community itself. Hospital patients need your support to make this project a reality and they thank you in advance for your generosity.
Meeting the needs of rehabilitation
In addition to ensuring adequate space for physiotherapy needs, this new center will meet the needs of clients with respect to confidentiality.
The main appeal of the project is undoubtedly the ability to offer new services such as cardiac and neurological rehabilitation, which we are unable to offer in the current facilities.
This means that people will now be accompanied on their entire journey to recovery, to ensure they return to the best possible quality of life and to their daily activities as soon as possible.
The need for a more modern, more spacious and better equipped physiotherapy clinic is obvious when one takes into account the severity and frequency of injuries encountered in a northern community such as ours.
